This is the conversation between myself and a little girl who my son is betrothed to. She's almost 4. She called me. I didn't recognize the number.
Me: Hello?
Lemon: I ate too much candy this day.
Me: You did? [realizing who it was because I only know so many preschoolers with a Boston accent who would be calling me]
Lemon: Yeah.
Me: Did you go out to eat?
Lemon: yes, and I ate too much food and then too much candy.
Me: Oh, well that's not good. Do you have a belly ache?
Lemon: No, it made my belly hurt. What are you doing?
Me: I'm cleaning out a pumpkin and cooking dinner. [I shall never again clean out a pumpkin, though i did find a recipe for a nice pumpkin facial that I made up. But I shall never do the pumpkin cleaning again. Aaric better be old enough to do it himself next time Michael is gone for Halloween.] What are you doing?
Lemon: I'm riding in the car, going home. And my mommy is asking me questions.
Me: She's asking you questions?
Lemon: Yeah. Like, "whats your favorite color" and stuff.
Me: Well what is your favorite color?
Lemon: Rainbow.
Me: Rainbow? Wow. That's Aaric's favorite color too! [realizing that this truly must be a match made in heaven.]
Lemon: It's your favorite too?
Me: No, its Aarics.
Lemon: Oh, okay.
I think thats when she passed the phone to her Mommy, Lady Lumpsalot. Who informed me that Lemon had ONE whole piece of candy. A peppermint. And she's vowed to not ANY more candy until Halloween.
We decided they are made for each other for sure. She'll be the best daughter in law ever. She'll be more than happy to share all her candy with me - and that's what's really important, isn't it?

She always says this day, instead of today!
About the accent, she said, she didn't know Kelly's voice was going to sound like that!
Boston Accent you say? No suh.
Yeah - one time when she asked what I'd said, it occurred to me that she may not understand my GA accent very well!
this reminds me of being in boston.....my mother and i asked for directions from a nice man in the subway....he gave them, and i was amazed....my mother understood him! i was even more amazed when she said he had been speaking english....
i think i may have been 5 or 6.....it was before my life was *ahem* blessed with a little sister...
Boston accent, it is a beautiful thing.
Lumpy, returning.
... and then on our trip to Boston when I was around 5, my kind older brother knocked out one of my teeth while we were in the backseat of a car. Sure, it was loose already, but still!
