Kelly's Tip of the Week

Lets say that your kids have a bunkbed. Its the wooden kind, with big metal "pegs" holding the two beds together. Now, lets say that your husband decides to take them apart just before bedtime. The pegs are stuck in there really good and you can't get it taken apart. So your husband has you holding one side up to keep the pegs from slipping back into place again, while he tries to seperate the other side. Don't hook your arms through, between the two beds, barely supporting it. Because what will happen is, he'll move around and instead of holding the top bed and trying to guide if off of the pegs, he'll lay on the bottom bunk using his legs to push on the frame of the top one, so that he has no control over the bed. Then what will happen is that he'll succeed, and your hooked-through arm will get slammed between the two beds and only be prevented from snapping in half because the other hand happens to slip out and grab the top bed to lift it back up just in time. Sure, you'll also wind up bruising the hand that saved your other arm, but its a small price to pay to prevent a really really bad fracture.
So, do not hook your arms through bunk beds when trying to seperate them. You'll either wind up snapping your arm like a twig, or you'll get lucky and get away with a badly bruised arm that seems to have some nerve damage.
Or you could just make sure you remind your husband to TELL you if he changes position and needs you to actually bear the weight of the bed.
My arm hurts.
