I was awakened by Michael who handed me a box of Reeces pb cups. I love those. At least I did a few weeks ago but now sugar is not my friend. I told them to stash them in a dresser drawer so the kids won't find them.
I already knew that he'd bought me something from work for a fundraiser they were doing. It came around lunch time. There was a nice big mug full of chocolates, with 3 mylar ballons and a teddy bear tied to the handle. The teddy bear had a rolled up piece of paper tied to it. The sight of chocolate had already made my stomach do a little flip. I unrolled this scroll looking deal to see what it said. After holding it out as far as I could, I saw that it said "I LOVE YOU." That's nice, really. Except that they were pink and red swirly letters, and it looked like instead of making them a big enough font, they just got the letters semi-big and then stretched them out to make them taller. The fun house mirror effect maybe. Now, I know. Smells are nothing. Tastes are nothing. The one thing to really screw me up for the day, is messed up pink and red swirly letters. I seriously felt sick for the rest of the day. I nearly fell out of the chair one time, I got so dizzy. That could also be from the lack of food. I did eat half a sandwich though. And for dinner, I had 3 whole bites of steak and a few bites of rice.
On an unrelated note, that I was reminded of by the steak:
Aaric is on day 3 of being a vegetarian. He had a little life changing moment in the grocery store the other day. It was around the same time that I discovered that grocery shopping while pregnant is NOT good. I made it through the produce okay, but once I hit the meats, I really wanted nothing to do with food anymore. It was as we were passing the last of the meat section that Aaric noticed a big cutout of a pig on the wall and asked why it was there. Now, he has always known that beef comes from cows. He knows that when he eats steak or hamburgers or beef burritos or anything like that, that its a cow. Same deal with chicken and fish. And he knows that pork is from pigs. He's always been okay with it - and in fact just said last week that he LOVES to eat pigs. He's a big fan of pork. Well, I read him the sign. It said that whole and half pigs are available by special order. That thought grosses me out too. Apparently it had a profound effect on him. I guess the reality of the meat eating situation really hit him. He proclaimed that he was NOT eating any more meat. That was Monday. He looked at me like I was crazy last night when I started getting his plate ready and put steak on it. I forgot!
I doubt that it will last, but for now, the boys in the family are vegetarians and the girls are carnivores.
