My friend, Cathy recommended SparkPeople to me a while back. I joined, not because I need to lose weight really, just because my waistline is out of proportion with the rest of my body and my hips have been considering keeping it company. I need to be eating better, and exercising. So I joined. I highly recommend it. You can put in every bite of food you eat in a day and it will tell you what all vitaims and fat grams and calories you ate. It also gives you meal plan ideas to give you well rounded days. Very very cool, and free.
Now, I've looked at diet and nutrition plans online before. Mainly to get points for mypoints.com (if you join that say you heard about it from me, i think i get 50 points for referrals), which in turn gets me gift cards at lots of cool places. At all the ones I've seen before, there's a box that says "Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?" and if you say yes, they politely tell you to go away, because they fear lawsuits. They tell you to talk to your doctor.
So I tried it at sparkpeople. I thought about just using it to track my stuff, but just remember that what I need is slightly different and that the pounds WILL be going up. But I decided to see what it said. I cautiously checked the "Yes, I am pregnant or breastfeeding" box. And hallelujah, they didn't tell me to go away! It turns out they have a sister site - www.babyfit.com which does all the same stuff, but its all specialized for pregnant women.
On both sites, you set it up specifically for you. It asks for your height, weight and age, and you tell it what kinds of exercise you want to be doing and let it know if you have any special dietary needs (vegetarian, diabetic, no eggs, lactose intolerant, etc) and it spits out a ton of info at you. Its great.
On a related note, I ate lettuce yesterday. Me. The Hater of All Green Foods Other Than Broccoli. I ate lettuce. Not a lot. but some. More than Mikayla who nibbled down 2 niblets. I think I had like 5 small pieces of leaf. More than a bite. Which believe me, thats saying something!
