Have I mentioned that I hate the cold?

Its colder again. Not freezing, but colder than what makes Kelly happy.
So apparently, to get a referral, you must go in and prove to them that you need one. They were kind enough to tell me that after just a week of calling and begging them for a referral. So then I drive nearly an hour, and pee in their little cup. And the nurse actually had the nerve to come out of the lab room and tell me, "Well, there's no line yet, we'll wait a few minutes and see if one comes up." All very casually. You know, its a good thing that I know that pregnancy tests are finicky, and that I already had several positive tests sitting at home, so I had no doubts. Because some women just may have burst into tears at that point. She never even mentioned that the line finally showed up. She just came back out of the room and asked me to step on the scale and said "well, let me be the first to congratulate you." I didn't mention that she wasn't the first. I mean, I'd known for over a week at this point. So, then she weighs me, checks my BP, and sticks me in a room. The PA came in and said, "So, they tell me you're having some irregular periods?" I just said, "well, yeah, uh, because I'm pregnant..." I was in the office for a total of 45 minutes. Just to prove that I am indeed in need of a midwife referral. Now I have to wait to get some packet in the mail, and THEN I can call and schedule an appointment.

In other news, this house is now full of germs. Mikayla finally quit coughing, but Michael is still sick and Aaric decided to get sick. He's either got strep or pneumonia. Maybe both, who knows. What we do know is that his white blood cell count was alarmingly high on Saturday morning and had it not come down today, he would have had the joy of a chest x-ray. Which I think he would have just LOVED. And I just remembered - I wouldn't have been able to go in with him! Because of the mini-kid I have in there! But anyway, he was thoroughly impressed when he had a concussion once and got to have a CAT scan, so I think he would have really enjoyed a chest x-ray. But alas, his blood count had dropped. Which means that his antibiotics are doing more than just making him burp and fart all day.
And then this afternoon I sneezed. And when I did, I felt a twinge of sinus pressure and headache. Whatever he's got, I'm coming down with it. Whenever I'm sick, I start with the sneezing. And if I do get sick, poor Aaric is going to have a major guilt complex because I was, at one point, smart enough to mention that Mommy having a fever is bad for the baby. Great parenting skills there, huh? I'll get sick and he'll panic over the welfare of his unborn sibling.
Also, speaking of this unborn sibling - Mikayla just hit it for the first time today. Or to be more exact, knee'ed it. I'm glad its well padded in there so far. She didn't mean to, but it still hurts.
Fun Quote of the day:
"With Mikayla's beautiful instincts and my cool moves, we can have a great party!"
