When Aaric was born, we lived a mere 2 hours away from our families. We went home at least once a month and people came to visit us about that often, too. Then we moved back home (quite literally - to my parents' house) when he was around 5 months old.
When Mikayla was born, we lived about 5 minutes from my parents and 15 from Michael's parents. We saw everyone at least once a week.
This means that our families were able to watch the subtle changes that take place in those first few months when Aaric and Mikayla were babies. They also took lots of pictures. Michael and I took very very few pictures of the kids ourselves, we just got copies of the ones that the grandmothers had taken.
This time, we live around 8 hours from them. Not only can they not watch Xander grow in person, they aren't here to take pictures of it either. That means that we have to do it. Partly so that we actually have some pictures of Xander to look back at when he's older, and partly so that we can give our families a little glimpse of how he's changing.
All of this means that I'll be posting pictures more frequently in my entries, and that I'll be uploading new pictures as often as possible (shooting for daily, but making no promises) into my brand new Flickr account. You can access these over to your right in the sidebar. It won't just be pictures of Xander (though, he IS the only one who changes and grows very fast these days). I'm also going to try to remember to change the little picture over there every time I upload new pictures. But I make no promises about that, either.
You may also notice that the whole set up has changed around here. It was time to redecorate. And upgrade. If you have blogger and haven't upgraded to the new beta version, you should. You won't lose anything in the upgrade, and customization gets a lot easier. Everything except my blogroll and hit counter transferred over in not just the upgrade, but also when I changed my template. I didn't have to go back in and manually add my other links back in like i used to have to do.
So, I hope you enjoy the new look and the new pictures!
