As of an hour and a half ago (7:08 pm) Aaric is officially 6 years old. Its easy to remember how I felt 6 years and one day ago - as the new baby has decided that he really needs to stretch today and I swear he nearly kicked a hole in my abdomen a few minutes ago.
At just 6 years old, he had a nearly toy-free birthday this year! He got clothes, a tent, walkie talkies, a kids' digital camera and a remote control monster truck. The monster truck is from Mikayla, as we figured he should get at least ONE toy for his birthday. We're relieved for that to be all of the toys though, since the playroom is overflowing as it is. He's plenty thrilled with all of his non-toy gadgets!
We went out to Red Robin for dinner, then stopped at TRU to let Mikayla pick out his monster truck, then went to Walmart to get cake making supplies. Now they've eaten cookie cake and are being very angry about bedtime.
I'm going to come back tomorrow and write some nice essay on what a darling little child he is. I'm currently way too distracted by the one inside of me practicing karate or breakdancing or something, and the girl one screaming and the birthday boy relaying messages from the girl and thinking he can get away with murder because "its my special day!" Tomorrow though, I shall have lovely things to say about my first-born, in honor of his birthday. Right now I keep thinking back to one moment - trying to get that child to nurse and him rolling his eyes at me. It was around this time those 6 years ago. So I guess its fitting that right now, I'm rolling my eyes at him!
