Mikayla won't shut up about wanting an animal. Her life will surely be ruined if she doesn't get a pet - preferably a puppy. She says it won't bark, and then demonstrates the incredibly cute barking sound it WILL make (which would still get annoying). When she finally gets tired of working on getting a puppy, she switches it to cat, which is a silly move because she knows that the answer is, "No, a cat would make Mommy sneeze."
I've thought through the whole list of potential pets. The problem with all of them is - in addition to caring for them on a daily basis, you have to find something to do with them when you travel. Even going away for a week a time or two a year is way too much hassle to me. To have to find people to come over and feed the animal, or to take the animal to someone else to care for it, its all too much. Plus the extra expense and work on a daily basis! No thank you. I don't even want a goldfish. We'll have a new baby in 6 months, thats enough excitement for the year I think. Mikayla disagrees.
So today, I finally said yes. She could have a pet bear. I agreed to the bear specifically because I know we can't have one, and I honestly kinda thought she'd realize that. But no. She wants me to take her to the pet store. I would. But I just know she's going to see some small animal that she believes is a baby bear and then I'll be stuck. I still wouldn't get it - but she'd believe that I'd lied to her. Which I did. But she doesn't need to know that I wouldn't get her a pet bear even if it were an option. And what happens when we go to the zoo? Now she'll beg to take a bear home.
Her other ideas include a bunny and a mouse. I think she should make friends with the bugs outside.

i plan to buy mikayla some fish at the beach.

Veg's new house shouldn't be too far from where we'll be... I'll go drop them off for her "Welcome to NC" gift.
